Flissy666!

Is this weird?

February 21, 2008 · 12 Comments

My name is Felicity and I’m a stash addict.  I have over 100 balls of wool with no predefined purpose, and possibly a mile of fabric which is just too special to cut.  And, yet, I keep buying.  Especially when it’s on sale.

Am I normal?  Please share you stash stories and thoughts.

    Totally normal!

My name is Linda and I’m a hoarder of craft supplies. :)

Recently, a lady at work was sent a dozen cupcakes from her husband. The box was a gorgeous pink and was tied with chocolate brown satin ribbon. She ate one and set the rest out for everyone to share. I ate a cupcake and it was awesome, but I was most delighted by the ribbon (which I pocketed for some unknown future purpose).

I also collect small cardboard boxes whenever I see them lying around or about to be thrown out. You never know when you might need one! I have a crawl space FILLED with small cardboard boxes now.

    Fliss, you’re sooooo normal! :)

My name is Nin and I collect everything. I like everything in multiples and enjoy having choice, even if it’s just a question of which to look at or touch next.

    LOL! I’m so not alone.

OK, I have lapsed – the cold turkey phase was difficult. I bought 23 balls of wool yesterday (gulp – I am so stoopid), just because I like Jaeger, it’s being discontinued, and you never know when you’ll need it ;)

I’m back on the wagon now, but I’m taking it a day at a time…

I have a smallish stash of wool and I can’t even knit!

I don’t want to count my yarn or my fabrics. :-)

Hi from Singapore (I’m Japanese though.)!
Whichever people consider you normal or abnormal, just follow your instincs! Keep on buying wools and fabrics? Just keep on producing stuff!!!

Goodness I hope you are normal…because if you aren’t then I am out of this world. I had to put some of my stash in another room since it didn’t fit in the sewing room.

Funny story though. At quilting class last weekend some of the ladies at the shop said there is one woman the comes in and buys loads of fabric…but get this…she doesn’t sew or craft. She just likes to look at it. And apparently has had to buy another house to store it in! O_o. This lady needs to adopt me!

And *ahem* my name is Rebecca and I have a closet full of fabric and then some, but I keep buying more. I have jars and jars of button and a stash of zippers, trim, rickrack, and ribbon.

And I also have a bunch of boxes. I was just tossing them in the garage but then I started to stack them up and noticed how many there are. Eep

TWENTY THREE BALLS?!?!?!?! Wow, you like large numbers of things. Wasn’t it sixty balls of Debbie Bliss at one point too, or am I imagining things.

I need to either climb on the wagon myself or have a massive ebay purge. I now have two Blythes on a wish list which is NOT GOOD. I have ENOUGH! But I like them :(

Ah, I am a new stash convert … I never really understood it until I got my own wee stash. I think now that people WITHOUT stashes are the abnormal ones.

  • Fliss // February 27, 2008 at 3:09 pm

LOL! We are all very crazy people!

Oiyi – at least you use your stash quite regularly; you’re one of the most prolific crafters ever!

Becca – I am very jealous of your sewing room, especially your name swag over the window. Although it is quite insane that you didn’t fit your stash in the room devoted to its cause! Although not as insane as fabric woman (that was me last year, although I *knew* I was getting a sewing machine in the end!).

Hello Melissa! *Waves*! Stash=good. Stash=comfort! And you can always insulate your loft if it gets out of hand!

Hello C,D&M! *Wavey wave!* But at least when the urge to knit takes over, you can act upon it straight away!

Hello Mariko! *Waving again!* Yes, you are right – the more I buy, the more I can make :) I must convince my BF of this logic ;)

Nin – yes, 23 balls of Jaeger, Debbie Bliss and Rowan (discontinued), either merino or pure cotton. £20.50 inc postage. Difficult to resist huh? Blythes… ah yes, I’m feeling it. I’m with you there, sister!

Perfect. Keep up the good gathering! The big trouble comes when you don’t have enough yarn & fabric! If you divide your totals by the number you create for, then it really may indicate that you need…more! ;)

Not weird, normal in the circles I live in
I had a fireman visit my house last night, he took one look and installed a further smoke alarm in my sewing room…………
